Evaluation of Connecting Health Research in Africa and Ireland Consortium Project

The Connecting health Research in Africa and Ireland Consortium (ChRAIC), 2008-15 was a cross country partnership involving three Irish HEIs – Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI - lead), Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) – working with a range of partners across 7 African countries:Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Sudan, Sudan, Sierra Leone and Uganda. The Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI) are looking for a consultant to evaluate the project that ended in September 2013. The consultancy should start mid May and be completed by mid July. A maximum of 40 days consultancy is expected for this largely desk-based review.

The purpose of the evaluation is to assess the degree to which the ChRAIC project met their objectives based on the strategic principles underpinning its establishment and review the role of ChRAIC in the Programme of Strategic Cooperation between Irish Aid and Higher Education and Research Institutes 2007-11 (PSC).
