Contract for Service: part-time 2 days equivalent per week (timings flexible)

The Development Studies Association of Ireland is a membership based organisation, which provides a national platform and open and participatory space for dialogue between researchers, policy-makers and practitioners, who have an interest in, or are working in the area of international development.
DSA Ireland wishes to recruit an Administration Assistant to join our current team for a period of 6 months initially. The successful candidate will provide administrative assistance to the DSA Ireland Coordinator and Steering Committee, with general office administration, database input and web and social media communications support.
Job description
- To assist and report to the DSA Ireland Coordinator in ensuring that the overall service to members is effectively and efficiently administered and supported;
- To update and maintain the DSA Ireland databases;
- To assist with organising DSA Ireland activities, including annual conference and programme of events throughout the year;
- To be familiar with information and communications technologies used by the network;
- To update and maintain the DSA Ireland website –adding content and updating the member subscription section;
- To provide support with DSA Ireland’s social media - Twitter and Facebook;
- To assist with compiling and collating data and statistics for reporting purposes;
- The post-holder may be required to undertake other tasks that may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post, taking into account the emergent and developmental nature of the work of DSA Ireland.
Person Specification
- Good, competent skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
- Experience of working with databases;
- Experience of updating websites and social media;
- Ability to problem solve and present creative solutions to challenges encountered;
- Readiness to take initiative and see work through to completion;
- Ability to work under pressure to complete core pieces of work;
- Work well with colleagues and an ability to build and manage good working relationships with a wide range of people;
