Achieving Global Disability Inclusion

The inclusion of disability in the future of global development will be highlighted at an event in Dublin on May 14th at the Alexander Hotel, Dublin (9.30am to 1pm)

The event hosted by CBM Ireland and the Dóchas Disability and International Development Working Group. Public representatives, development practitioners, activists, academics and policy experts will join for an opportunity to consider how Ireland and the EU can strengthen its position and future programming on inclusive development.

Keynote speakers at the event include:

  • Ms Charlotte McClain Nhlapo, Coordinator of the Office for Disability and Inclusive Development USAID.
  • Mr Ronald Wiman, National Institute for Health and Welfare, Finland and External Adviser to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Finland on Inclusive Development
  • Mr AK Dube, Chief Executive Officer of the Secretariat of the Africa Decade of Persons with Disabilities
  • Mr Joe Costello, TD, Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade with responsibility for Trade and Development.

The afore mentioned, with the UN set to hold high-level meetings on both the future of global development and disability in the coming months, this meeting is ideally placed to discuss how Ireland can better show solidarity with the 1 billion people worldwide who live with disabilities every day - particularly in the context of Ireland's EU Presidency.
