Across the world, women pay the price for an economy that systematically discriminates against them. Women often end up in insecure, low-wage jobs and are under-represented in senior positions. They also continue to carry the burden of unpaid care work which restricts their ability to pursue economic opportunities.
Advancing women’s economic empowerment is not only fundamental to achieving gender equality but also to eradicating poverty at home and overseas. It’s time for women to enjoy decent work that pays and play a key role in shaping economic and social policies.
