Launch of the multi-country project “Social and Economic Costs of Violence Against Women and Girls” on February 11, 2015 in NUI, Galway. 

The project is being implemented by an international research team led by Dr. Nata Duvvury at the Centre for Global Women Studies, School of Political Science and Sociology in NUI Galway, in collaboration with Ipsos MORI, London, UK and the International Centre for Research on Women (ICRW), Washington DC, USA. The team won a competitive award of £1.5 million British Sterling funded by the Department for International Development (DFID), UK to undertake the project. 

The project will explore the social and economic impacts of violence against women and girls in the Global South and will provide a framework for estimating the overall costs for national economies. The project is part of DFID's global development initiative,  'What Works: A Global Programme to Prevent Violence against Women and Girls'.
