The guidelines are a practical reference tool developed for students, by students, to guide the ethical conduct of overseas fieldwork. Informed by a need for greater support, this initiative advocates upholding a standard of responsible, accountable, respectful, and competent conduct for the benefit of students, institutions, as well as the communities and individuals with whom they are engaging. The event will coincide with Trinity's Development Research Week and provide a platform to discuss the guidelines, their relevance, and application to inform the broader conduct of international academic fieldwork.
The development of the guidelines was supported by the Development Studies Association of Ireland (DSAI) and the Irish Forum for Global Health (IFGH). Such initiative was a collaboration of these networks' postgraduate working group and student outreach group: Students for Ethical Engagement (SEE).
Please note that travel stipends will be made available to students wishing to attend from outside of Dublin.
