This workshop, organised by Plan Ireland, will hear from speaker Nick van Praag: Founder and Director of Ground Truth. Ground Truth Solutions is an organisation that brings the views of displaced people and others affected by humanitarian crises into the way relief and recovery programmes are designed and managed. Nick’s prior career spanned humanitarian and development work at the EU Commission, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the Aga Khan Development Network, and the World Bank. The workshop will also have a presentation from Craig Dean: Plan International’s Global Voice for Change. Plan International’s Global Voice for Change Project supports young people to connect, learn and advocate enabling them to tackle the issues they are concerned about. Craig states that world leaders must harness the determination and passion of young people to help overcome crises and disasters. Craig’s prior career spanned humanitarian and research work in complex emergencies responding to the earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal and fighting Ebola in Sierra Leone and Liberia.
