Architects of a Better World: Addressing Tax and Poverty

-

The Accountability Research Cluster (ARC) at the Kemmy Business School , part of the University of Limerick, is delighted to host a one-day seminar addressing the topic of Tax and Poverty on March 22nd, 2016. The event is of interest to those operating in the fields of taxation and of international development, or who are interested in their impact. In particular, the day's discussions should be relevant to:

  • policy-makers in those fields;
  • tax and/or development practitioners;
  • academics and students;
  • people interested in the impact of fiscal policy on society.

This is the 3rd seminar in an ESRC funded seminar series ‘Architects of a Better World: Building the Post 2015 Business Engagement Architecture,’ a direct response to the United Nations Global Compact’s call for businesses and business schools to support sustainable development. The seminar is set in the context of the new UN Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on Goal One: No Poverty. The morning session presents a wide range of academic research and work in progress on the broad theme of tax and poverty, while the afternoon features a panel discussion on tax and poverty, with speakers from the United Nations, the OECD, Christian Aid and academic research.

Admission is free, but registration is required. Further details will be available on www.ul.ie/business/arc
