The Department of Sociology & Criminology, UCC hosted this event 'Revisiting Development Theories' on Monday 29 March 2021. Chaired by Prof. Maggie O’Neill, Head of Department in dialogue with speakers: Prof. Pádraig Carmody is Professor in Geography at Trinity College, the University of Dublin where he did his undergraduate and masters work and is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg. Prof. Carmody talks about his new book on ‘Development Theory & Practice in a Changing World’.  Dr. Su-Ming Khoo is a Senior Lecturer in Political Science and Sociology, and leads the Environment, Development and Sustainability (Whitaker Institute) and Socio-Economic Impact (Ryan Institute) Research Clusters at NUI Galway. Dr Khoo discusses ‘decolonizing development theory, education and practice’.
